Face painting is an amazing opportunity as it is something different from your every day behind-the-desk job, and you constantly interact with people. You get to try your hand at an entirely new canvas that brings a new challenge to your every day painting and you transform kids into something so different that it is hard to grab the mirror back from them.
This is an ideal side job for students as it provides great customer service experience, something entirely different on your resume that your employers have never seen before, and a reliable reference for future jobs!
